The Junior Engineering Officer assists with all Engine Room duties, such as operating and maintaining the propulsion plants and support systems - and must learn the procedures for operating/overhauling equipment and understanding engine room watch-keeping in order to become a competent officer able to function independently.

Cyber security comprises technologies, processes, and controls that are designed to protect systems, networks, and data from cyber-attacks. Effective cyber security reduces the risk of cyber-attacks, and protects organizations and individuals from the unauthorized exploitation of systems, networks, and technologies.

The Deck Department is supported by Deck Ratings, whose duties will include supporting the Officer of the Watch, assisting with navigation, keeping a lookout, and steering the vessel, when necessary, as well as other duties such as maintenance and repair, operating equipment, cargo handling, mooring, safety, security, and firefighting duties.

This course is intended to provide participants with an understanding of the structure and terms of the ISO 14001:2015 standard and the Environmental Management Systems.

As awareness of hazardous materials grows in response to the safety and environmental concerns, various efforts have been initiated by authorities to regulate the inventory and management of hazardous materials in order to respond to the needs highlighted by the Hong Kong Convention and by Regulation (EU) no. 1257.

Approved by ABS. The Officer of the Deck is assisted by the Junior Deck Officers, who are in the process of qualifying as full Senior Deck Officer. Typically, Junior Deck Officers have the conn, (i.e., control of the engines and rudder), and must learn and enable themselves to become worthy of becoming a capable OOW, competent enough to carry out the navigational watch solely.

This newly updated course aims to provide ports and port facilities with a consistent, cost-efficient and effective means of providing necessary instruction in security awareness to their staff, contractors and port personnel. Under the duty of care, it is the responsibility of port owners and operators to ensure that proficient security-related training has been provided, and that all personnel can effectively assist in the mitigation of the risk of a security-related incident.

This course provide participants with the knowledge to: Better manage an incident in order to protect life. Identify potential crisis situations. Prepare and implement actions to mitigate the effects of such situations.

This course is intended to provide participants with an understanding of how organizations should establish the systems and processes necessary to improve energy performance, including energy efficiency, use, and consumption. Improved energy performance provides immediate benefits for an organization by maximizing the use of its energy sources and energy-related assets, thus reducing both energy cost and consumption.

Approved by ABS. Senior Engineering Officers oversee the Marine engineering department on the vessel and hold responsibility for the maintenance and operation of all engineering equipment onboard the vessel. They ensure that there is a surplus of fuel and spare parts, and that the engine room is clean, safe, well running, and suitable for inspection by coastguard authorities and other inspectors.
